I've done a lot of research on this, but im still really confused. All the definitions i've seen are really complicated, so could someone please explain to me in simple words what abstract art is? And i heard that there we two types, one where you can kind of recognise the object (Monet's painting) and others where is just mess or objects ( like jackson pollock) what are the correct terms for these? And i also heard of stuff like cubism and futurism and others.....do they have anything to do with abstract or are they completely different kinds of art? Thank you

Question What makes some abstract art better than other abstract art?
I am curious why some abstract art like from Jackson Pollock is worth millions but if I did something similar, it would be worthless. If it is all abstract and ambiguous by nature, what makes one piece better than the next?

Best Answer Partly whether the shapes are aesthetically pleasing, partly when you did it. A lot of abstract art is just in the right place at the right time, where it's unusual and interesting. I personally think most abstract and modern art are a load of BS and photorealism is the way forward. Just my opinion though.
