Question Should I Frame a Limited Edition Canvas Giclee?
I am purchasing a signed limited edition canvas giclee- picture, that I have wanted for two years and was able to finally purchase. I do not know if I should have this picture framed? If it is on canvas, does/should this be framed? Thank you for any help!

Best Answer Since it isn't oil, you can put it behind glass and even matte it if you want. Oils require many many years to dry out. (over 75 years) which is why you don't put oil behind glass, or if you do, it must be vented in the back or else you'll get what they call "foxing" which is trapped moisture. Even if the canvas needs to be re-streched for the frame you want, it'll be ok.

Question How do I prepare ordinary canvas for giclee printing?
What primers (chemicals) are necessaty to apply to standard or ordinary canvas with a view to giclee printing in a wide format printer using ultra-chrome ink?. What is the application proceedure? Alternatively, who can supply such a primer?

Best Answer From all the research I've done, there is not one "primer" that you can apply to regular canvas to prepare it for printing. Each canvas manufacturer uses what seems to be a closely-guarded formula, and each formula reacts differently with the various printers as well as the various inks.
