Question What is the best file format to shoot your digital photos with for large format printing?
And then - what is the best way to print them? A home large-format printer? Or professionally? I'm an aspiring amateur.
Best Answer The best format to shoot in - provided your camera gives you the option - is RAW. That has been called a 'digital negative'. JPEG is a 'lossy' format which means that each time you open it you can loose some of the digital information. That does not happen with RAW, but you will need to do quite a bit of work on the picture before saving as a TIFF - not a JPEG. And shots in RAW format do take up a lot of room on your card.

Best Answer For fine art prints I would suggest the lighroom, as they have a lightjet printer. However, metal is not one of the mediums it prints on. For printing on metal you are going to have to either use liquid emulsion, or simply screen print the image. However, screen printing does not yield high resolution images, but for wall sized prints that doesnt matter because you dont stand two inches from the photo scrutinizing the details. For screen printing try bay area custom screeners

I am designing for a wall mural what will be the best size for enlargement of the design I made. Is there a standard size? My canvass is for web so when I am assigned to this task I am stunned (but I have to). Thanks for the help
Best Answer The best and safest way is to know exactly what size is your wall mural and use the same size in creating your design. If you're not sure about the size, create your design with the highest DPI (resolution) possible your computer system can handle (300 dpi minimum).
